The Forest of the Deer God
Scene 316 shows the Forest of the Deer God in Princess Mononoke. The panorama was designed for a slow camera pan that reveals the extent of the Forest Spirit's realm. We’re proud to present our Solegraph Edition of this masterpiece.
Nizo Yamamoto: Master of Anime Scenography
On 2 October 2026 an exhibition of work by Nizo Yamamoto opens at the S. Tchoban Foundation in Berlin. Around 120 original works are on view, from films including Future Boy Conan, Castle in the Sky, Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke and Weathering With You.

This is one of my favorite pieces of all the backgrounds I had the pleasure to work with so far. I love the color and the idea that the cityscape is somehow excavated from blurbs of blue.
